Meet Dr. Harpaul Sandhu DVM
Dr. Harpaul Sandhu graduated and received his veterinary degree from Punjab Agricultural University in 2009. Dr. Harpaul Sandhu has been practicing veterinary medicine in the Bay Area, California since 2010. Dr. Sandhu worked in the corporate field and private practices. Prior to 2010, he also volunteered his time at animal shelters in the San Joaquin County.
Dr. Sandhu has extensive experience in soft tissue surgery and a background in orthopedic surgeries such as patella luxation, TPLO, femoral head ostectomy, in addition to general preventive pet care. He is also an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the California Veterinary Medical Association.
To further pursue his passion in animal care, he decided to humbly take full responsibility as sole owner of Ygnacio Animal Hospital here in Walnut Creek CA. He, along with his dedicated team of doctors and staff, strive to provide the best care possible for pets and their owners.
“When I am not devoting my time to providing optimal care for my patients’ health at the hospital, I spend my time with my beautiful wife and adorable daughter along with my two rottweilers and a rescue pup named Coconut. In my free time, I enjoy watching basketball and football. I am truly a very family oriented man. I believe our companions play a very special role in our lives creating a unique bond between owners and their pets’.”
Meet Dr. Harvinder Sandhu DVM
Dr. Harvinder Sandhu graduated and received her veterinary degree from Punjab Agricultural university in 2009. She is been practicing in the Bay Area since 2010 . She has special interest in internal medicine cases , dermatology and soft tissue surgery . She shares the ownership of Ygnacio Animal hospital with her husband. In her free time she loves to spend time with her husband, thier adorable 4 year old daughter and 2 crazy Rottweilers
Jeff Calderon, Practice Manager
Jeff joined the team in November of 2014 when Dr. Sandhu had purchased the hospital. Jeff has 9 years of experience in the veterinary fields and has worked every position in the hospital from receptionist to manager. “Growing up in the Central Valley I have always had a love for animals, whether working on my uncle’s ranch or caring for my own pets at home.” I have lived in the Bay Area for 11 years now and when I’m not a work I love to fish, boat, hike, and most of all spend time with my 8yr old son and beautiful wife.
Charisse Gonzalez, Lead Veterinary Technician
Charisse received her education from an AVMA accredited school for Veterinary Technicians and obtained an Associate’s Degree in Animal Science. With over 6 years of experience, Charisse is passionate about educating pet owners on animal health care and hopes to one day specialize in anesthesia. Though puppies and kittens are adorable, her heart falls into the paws of sick and geriatric pets and firmly believe and stand for quality of life. Grew up in the Bay Area and resides with her husband, children, two dogs and a selective hearing tuxedo cat. She passionately works in partnership with animal lovers to dedicate her hard work to her childhood dog, Jordan.
Carla Schmidt, Registered Veterinary Technician
Carla fell in love with veterinary medicine when she was a young adult and decided to pursue her passion by starting to work in the veterinary field at 15. She has worked almost all positions at a veterinary hospital from kennel assistant, receptionist and now as a Registered Veterinary Technician. She got her associates degree in animal science at an accredited AVMA school for Veterinary Technicians. She became a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2011. She has grown up in the Bay Area and lives with her husband, two cats, and two dogs. Carla hopes to become a Certified Ultrasound Technician for animals one day.

Tyvonna has been a member of the Ygnacio Animal hospital team since March 2016. Even though she loves working with all the fur babies that come in, she is currently following a goal of working in the NICU with ill children. When she’s not working or studying you can find her spending time with her large family.
